 TAXES
The Darlington Township Real Estate tax bills go out March 1st of each year. The Blackhawk School District Real Estate tax bills go out July 1st of each year. The Per Capita tax bill is considered a “Head Tax.” This would be any resident over the age of 18 regardless of employment status. Per Capita bills are mailed out on July 1 annually. Wage tax is to be paid quarterly with a final return being sent in with a W2 attached. The wage tax is calculated by 1% of the individual’s gross wages.
TOWNSHIP FACILITIES
The township building has a banquet facility that is offered only to residents. The fee is $100.00 and a $100.00 deposit is required. The room can accommodate 60 to 70 people. There also is a full service kitchen for your convenience. If you would like to rent the room contact the township office for any additional information.
FIRE DEPARTMENT
The officers and members of the Darlington Township Volunteer Fire Department would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the residents of Darlington Township and Darlington Borough for their generous donations during last year’s fundraising drive. While we do everything we can to obtain grants from the state and federal government to upgrade our ability to serve the community, we are dependent on your donations for the bulk of our operating expenses.
In 2008, we successfully obtained a grant from the state of Pennsylvania’s Volunteer Fire Service Grant Assistance Program. We received $22,000 which will be used to purchase vehicle extrication equipment, safety equipment and other items which will enhance our capabilities as well as keeping us safe while we are keeping you safe.
HOUSE NUMBER APPEAL
There is one major area where you, the residents, can help us as well as helping yourselves. Over ten years ago, all of the homes in Beaver County received new street numbers to replace the Rural Route numbers which had been in place. The new street numbers were intended to assist emergency responders in locating the homes of those in need of assistance. There is one problem, however. Those house numbers are of no value if the police, fire department and ambulance personnel can’t see them. Keep vegetation or other obstructions from obscuring your number. If you have a long driveway or your house is not visible from the road, make sure your house number is posted near the main road and is clearly visible. Remember, the more quickly we can find your house, the more quickly we can begin to help you, and every minute counts. The fire department sells green reflective number plates with white reflective numbers for just $15. These can be made horizontal or vertical, one-sided or two-sided. We will install them for an additional $5 charge. To order a plate, contact the Township Office or simply stop in during normal business hours.
Again, we appreciate everything that you do to help us, and we hope we are serving you as best we can.
